Thousands of South Africans are awaiting the much-anticipated sale of flight tickets by local airline FlySafair at a heavily discounted price.
R10 a ticket
This after the South African airline, reinstated it’s unbelievable R10 ticket sale, which includes all taxes.
The sale marks FlySafair’s tenth year of operation. The company recently saw its fortunes change for the better following the closure of fierce rival Comair, an airline that was based in South Africa and operated scheduled services on domestic routes as a British Airways franchisee.
Comair was liquidated in 2022, simultaneously with Mango, which was on the brink of bankruptcy.
On their website, Flysafair reported that they will be able to accommodate 50 000 individuals who will partake in the sale. The sale will start on Wednesday at 9am for a local one-way flight.
Grown in leaps and bounds
The airline has not been shy to share that it started operations in the South African airspace after its first scheduled domestic flight on October 16, 2014, and has since grown to be a significant player in the domestic air travel space.
“The airline now operates over 150 flights a day connecting all major South African cities, with additional connections to Mauritius and Zanzibar. This year we are going big with 50,000 tickets, which equates to an entire 264 Boeing 737-800 aircraft full of passengers flying for only R10,” the airline said.
On its X account, it encouraged passengers who wanted to participate in the sale to create their profiles on its website ahead of the sale.
“This means you can pre-load your traveller info, save your card details, and enjoy speedier payments.”
