The official number of COVID-19 cases now stand at 1505 as announced by the department of health today.
This is an increase of 43 new cases from Thursday.
“We also want to report that there are two more deaths from KwaZulu-Natal. An 80-year-old male and 81-year-old female,” said Mkhize.
The minister confirmed while briefing the media at the Khayelitsha Hospital, in the Western Cape that the total number of deaths had risen to 7.
“We are still awaiting confirmation on the two KZN deaths. I raised them because you have heard about them” said Mkhize.
“On what we have asked the provinces to do. Everything has been put in place. When we started we didn’t know that the outbreak would be highest in Gauteng, Western Cape and Free State, this virus is a moving target,” he added.
