Former ANC Western Cape chairperson Marius Fransman has tested positive for Covid-19.
In a Facebook post, the former deputy minister of international relations and co-operation in former president Jacob Zuma’s administration, said he had returned from abroad two weeks ago and began to feel under the weather.
He was tested and it was confirmed he had the coronavirus’ which causes the highly infectious disease which has killed five South Africans.
Fransman said he was recuperating in hospital. He said his family was being taken care of and will also undergo relevant tests. He also said he had advised those who came into contact with him last month that he had contracted the disease so they could also get tested.
“I am doing well under the circumstances, and want to appeal to everyone to get themselves tested if you show symptoms and let’s all start practicing good hygiene, adhere to the lockdown regulations, and all join in the call to flatten the curve,” he said.
