House robbery suspect nabbed

Johannesburg- A well-coordinated operation conducted by the Modimolle Detectives and Modimolle Crime Intelligence led to the arrest of a 39-year-old foreign national for a house robbery (farm attack) that was committed at Sussenvale farm outside Modimolle the previous Saturday.

The Police received information that the suspect wanted for the said house robbery will be appearing on another charge in Pretoria magistrate’s court this morning.

The suspect indeed arrived driving the same vehicle, a Toyota Fortuner reportedly used during the commission of the Modimolle farm attack.

The suspect, who was out on bail after he was arrested at Hercules for another charge of possession of copper cables, was immediately arrested after appearing in Pretoria magistrate’s court.

He was then taken to one of his addresses in Hammanskraal where some of the properties that were allegedly robbed during the farm attack such as laptops, mechanical equipment, and tools were recovered.

On Saturday 18 September 2021 at about 22h43, about four suspects all armed with firearms accosted the occupant of the said farmhouse.

They then allegedly assaulted him and ransacked the house. At one stage they allegedly threw him through a window, resulting in him sustaining lacerations.

The suspects took his cellphone, Tvs, wallet, high oven, generator, and one rifle. They left in the early hours of Sunday morning with the victim’s Volkswagen Polo. The victim managed to walk to a neighbors’ house and was later transported to the hospital.

The VW Polo that was taken during the House Robbery was recovered by the Hammanskraal Saps, a day after the incident.

This was after the suspects were cornered by Saps members and during the chase, they abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended the members for the meticulous investigations that led to the apprehension of the suspect.

The suspect will appear in Modimolle magistrate’s court on Thursday 30 September 2021 on a charge of house robbery.
