Johannesburg – Stuart Baxter, who was announced as the new head coach of Kaizer Chiefs, has apologised for the comments he made that landed him in hot water, while he was coaching Odisha FC in India.
Baxter, who was fired for the comments he made relating to rape, has dialed back his statement and apologised.
“You need decisions to go your way and they didn’t‚,” Baxter said at the time of Odisha FC’s 1-0 loss to Jamshedpur.”
“I don’t know when we’re going to get a penalty. I think one of my players would have to rape someone or get raped himself if he was going to get a penalty.”

Baxter has been welcomed at the club for his second stint as head coach following the 51-year-old club experiencing one of their worst domestic league campaigns under Hunt, who was roped in last September but could not even finish the recently concluded season.
Although Chiefs are in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League, they squeezed through into next season’s top eight after narrowly winning the last match of the season, beating TS Galaxy 1-0.
Baxter and the club have agreed to a two-year contract plus a two-year option as the coach of Amakhosi’s first team, Chiefs announced via their club website.
The English coach was in charge of Chiefs from 2012 to 2015. During his first stint with the club, he won several trophies with Amakhosi, including two league titles in 2012/13 and 2014/15, the Nedbank Cup in 2012/13 and MTN8 during the 2014/15 season.
“We believe we are on track with the changes we have made so far in the coaching and technical department after a challenging season domestically,” said the club chairman Kaizer Motaung, referring to the appointment of Baxter and Molefi Ntseki as head of technical and Youth Development Academy.
