South Africa, one of the most competitive countries in sports, continues to develop world-class athletes. As a result, Apollo Brands, the exclusive distributor of Under Armour in South Africa, has expanded to meet their needs.
This comes after they announced the official launch of its newest Icon Brand House in Johannesburg’s Sandton City.
Apollo Brands general manager Brent Collinicos said the launch marks a significant point in Under Armour’s South African growth strategy. It demonstrates the company’s dedication to provide unique experiences and innovative goods for players both on and off the field.
“We’re not just expanding our distribution. We’re also raising the bar and continually re-investing in existing locations. I’m incredibly proud of the team for bringing this vision to life,” said Collinicos.
Exceptional retail experience for consumers and athletes
He said the brand house represents their dedication to delivering an exceptional retail experience to their valued consumers and athletes.
“We are thrilled to show up in a stronger way. We are a growing sportwear brand. And this expansion in the iconic Sandton City underpins an exciting milestone as we continue to elevate brand-lead retail experiences.”
The house is covered in local illustration by artist Sinenhlanhla Chauke to enhance the authenticity of the Icon Brand House. This is to honour sporting heroes and local talent as the store’s design pays homage to its South African roots. It features localised elements, including exclusive artwork.
Premium technical products for athletes’ needs
“This bold stunt perfectly embodied the innovation and audacity at the heart of the Under Armour brand,” said Collinicos.
Meanwhile Brent Venter, head of retail for Apollo Brands, expressed his pride in this launch. He said this is to optimise their efforts to inspire athletes with a powerful assortment of premium technical products to service their performance needs.
“We are thrilled to bring our product and this immersive shopping experience to the South African market.”
Olympic swimming gold medalist and world record holder Tatjana Smith was excited about the launch. She said South Africans will have the chance to experience firsthand the quality that has been put in place to expand their prowess.
