Dloz’ Lam presenter Thembi Nyathi’s eight-year marriage has joined her ancestors.
Sunday World can exclusively reveal that Nyathi’s union with her husband, Gideon Nyathi, has crumbled, and the two are headed for divorce.
Sources close to Nyathi, who is known in the entertainment industry as Thembi The Medium, revealed to Sunday World that she will soon fly solo.
The deep throat, who did not want to be named for fear of reprisals, said Nyathi, who presents the popular show that helps viewers find healing through spiritual readings on Moja Love, kicked her husband to the kerb last month.
This follows her repeated complaints that she has lost affection for her husband due to his “conduct”.
“When we enquired, we learnt that the two had some differences, and, as a result, Thembelihle decided to end the marriage.
“We thought this was just a lovers’ tiff, and they would both resolve their differences and get back together,” said the tipster.
But much to their shock, said the source, Nyathi’s husband received calls and letters from the presenter’s lawyers informing him that she was planning to file for divorce because she felt their marriage had broken down beyond repair.
“She explained that she did not only lose love for him but respect too because of his conduct. She did not want to go into details about how he was conducting himself,” said the source.
According to the source, Nyathi had mentioned that she would not attempt to rekindle the spark and fix the couple’s faltering union because she no longer had feelings for him.
The associate alleged that they became aware of the manifestation of cracks in the
marriage when they started sleeping in separate bedrooms.
“We thought they would attend counselling sessions in a bid to save their marriage but we were wrong.
“What we also learnt is that they now lead different lifestyles and have different interests, but most importantly, she no longer loves him.
“It’s so heart-breaking because all along we have been crossing our fingers that they will eventually find each other and get back together for the sake of their three children but our hopes were dashed when she told us that she wants out and wants nothing to do with him,” said the associate.
The source also said Nyathi wants her husband to vacate their matrimonial house in Hastea Park, in Tshwane, and continue to pay the bond so that she can live comfortably with their three children.
She also wants to keep custody of their three children and allow them to occasionally visit their father after their divorce proceedings are finalised. Nyathi couldn’t be reached for comment at the time of going to print while her husband feigned surprise when we pressed him for comment on their separation.
