Ford’s Ranger Tremor adventure-ready for thrill seekers at competitive price

Ford South Africa has unleashed the Ranger Tremor, a rugged addition to its acclaimed Ranger line-up, which is designed for thrill seekers, farmers, and overlanders

Priced at R977 500, including value-added tax, the Ranger Tremor combines off-road prowess with affordability, slotting below the premium Wildtrak X.

“The Ranger Tremor elevates capability and confidence for challenging terrains while offering a cost-effective option for adventure enthusiasts,” says Doreen Mashinini, the general manager for marketing at Ford South Africa.

Higher ground clearance

Built on the XLT series, the Ranger Tremor shares the Wildtrak X’s 154kW/500Nm 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel engine and full-time 4WD system.

It also boasts a 24mm higher ground clearance and a 30mm wider track, thanks to Bilstein position-sensitive dampers.

The innovative Trail Turn Assist reduces the turning radius by up to 25% for tight off-road manoeuvres, while Pro Trailer Backup Assist with Trailer Reverse Guidance standard on Tremor, Wildtrak X, Ranger Raptor, and the upcoming Ranger Platinum, simplifies towing with camera-guided precision.

Whether you’re spending a day at the farm or exploring Mzansi through the Garden Route, the Ranger Tremor’s black honeycomb grille, LED auxiliary lights, and bolder grey accents on the bumper, fender vents, and mirror caps visually stand out.

Its 265/70 R17 General Grabber AT3 tyres, mounted on 17-inch asphalt-black alloy rims, scream off-road intent.

Water-resistant vinyl seats

Exclusive “Tremor” decals, a black Ford Oval, and a Conquer Grey paint option (shared with the Raptor) add flair.

Practical touches include a steel bash plate, underbody protection, and a spray-in bedliner with a 12V socket.

Inside, water-resistant vinyl seats with orange-stitched Tremor logos and vinyl flooring ensure durability.

A 12-inch touchscreen with Off-road SYNC and a 360-degree camera system enhance navigation, complemented by wireless charging and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

Roof-mounted auxiliary switches and dual-battery provision cater to overlanding needs.

The Ranger Tremor’s off-road credentials shine with drive modes (Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, Sand, Rock Crawl) and Trail Control for low-speed cruising.

Safety features include seven airbags, lane keeping, pre-collision assist, and blind spot monitoring.

Balance between style and value

Available from the first quarter of 2024, it comes with Ford Protect: a four-year/120 000km warranty, four-year/unlimited roadside assistance, and a five-year/unlimited corrosion warranty.

Optional extensions include service plans up to eight years/135 000km or warranties up to seven years/200,000km.

“The Tremor balances style, substance, and value, making it a game-changer for adventurers,” says Mashinini.

At R977 500, it is a compelling choice for vehicle enthusiasts craving rugged versatility.
