NLC sets aside R150 million COVID-19 relief fund

The National Lotteries Commission  ( NLC) has set aside R150 million to help non- profit organisations (NPOs),  non-governmental organisations (NGOs),  and non- profit companies (NPCs) affected by Covid-19 financial distress.

This was announced by NLC spokesman Ndivhuho Mafela in a statement recently.

“ The NLC is cognisant of the fact that the approved funds will not be allocated to all the affected organisations in the country as the demands far outstrip the supply,” he said.

Mafela said the allocated funds will be distributed among the organisations they have funded in the past two financial years and those they funded in the past five financial years for infrastructural projects.

Mafela also said the organisations that have received grants in the 2020 calendar year, those awaiting payments, those with outstanding progress reports,  those placed in the delinquency register and those that have received operational costs from other funders do not qualify for the relief funds.

He said preference will still be given to organisations in the rural areas, where poverty reigns supreme.

He said affected organisations should submit their applications forms before May 15.
