Businessman Collen Mashawana and the backers of his foundation must be commended for their efforts to alleviate the plight of the homeless KwaZulu-Natal floods victims.
The foundation and Old Mutual recently handed over house keys to a few families. Although many more still need roofs over their heads, it is a step in the right direction. In April, the province experienced severe flooding, leaving over 40 000 people displaced, more than 400 people dead and over 12 000 houses destroyed. We thank all those helping the destitute.
