Police pounce on men suspected of Eldorado Park murders

Seven suspects involved in the recent deadly shootings in Eldorado Park, south of Joburg have been arrested and are expected to appear in court soon.

Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello said on July 21 police followed up on information and proceeded to an address provided where they found five male suspects aged between 19 and 24 years.

“One of the suspects was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm with 16 live ammunition. Two more suspects were later arrested for other separate cases of murder. All arrested suspects are expected to appear before respective magistrate’s courts soon,” said Sello.

Gauteng provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela expressed his gratitude to community members for sharing information with the police. This after the community marched at the weekend to hand over a memorandum of concerns and to pledge partnership policing against crime, illegal firearms and drugs.

“We want to see a peaceful community in Eldorado Park and the police are happy with the extended hand of partnership offered by the community. I know that working together, we can achieve so much more,” said Mawela.
