Johannesburg – A school principal was shot dead at a school in Buyani Primary School in Finetown, Gauteng on Friday morning.
MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi, tweeted, “Just got information that a principal of a Finetown Primary School was shot dead inside the school premises moments ago. We are on our way to the school.”
Police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele, said that the principal was shot several times and police are on the scene carrying out further investigations.

Lesufi has condemned the fatal shooting.
“We are extremely shocked and outraged at the news of the school shooting in Finetown this morning. Without even knowing the motive for this heartless act, we condemn the shooting of the principal of Buyani Primary and send our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues,” Lesufi said in statement.
“Our Psycho-Social Unit will also visit the school to provide all the necessary assistance to learners and educators,” he said.
