RHOJ producer Sonia Mbele scores gig in front of camera on hit show DiepCity

Johannesburg – Seasoned actress and TV producer Sonia Mbele has bagged a new acting gig on hit-telenovela DiepCity.

Mbele will be sharing the stage with Nozuko Ncayiyane, Mduduzi Mabaso and Dawn Thandeka King amongst other stars of the show as the edgy villain called Zola, who will make a debut on July 27.

The Real Housewives of Johannesburg producer told the Sunday World that this was the character she long waited for as she had been planning to join a local production after spending much time behind the camera.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been on screen and lately I had been contemplating doing a stint on one of our local productions, so I guess the universe was listening.

“The character and I share the same level of determination and getting the job done at all cost, once you start something you have to see it through,” said the excited Mbele.

Better known as Ntombi from her former Generations iconic character, Mbele said she had to be selective of the roles she would play but the sultry and feisty Zola reignited her spirit to return in front of the camera.

She said the character was most interesting because it was different from the previous roles she has played and believes it will show fans the different faces she can fit into.

Although she could not get into much detail on what to expect from the character, Mbele said: “Let’s anticipate a gangster with a difference, a bit of sass and class. Playing Zola is going to be much fun, I can’t to introduce DiepCity to her, she is bringing all the heat.”
