Postbank announced on Wednesday that SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) beneficiaries can now access their grants via ATMs.
However, said Sassa, the process of restoring full transactions capacity inside retailers is still under way.
Postbank spokesperson Bongani Diako advised Sassa social grants customers using Postbank gold cards that the technical glitches that affected customers’ ability to perform withdrawals on Tuesday have been resolved for all ATM and Post Office branch transactions.
“This means that Sassa customers using the Postbank Sassa gold cards can now immediately access their social grants via ATMs and Post Office branches,” he said.
It has been reported that the processing of reversal of funds debited on the accounts that declined since Tuesday due to a system error is under way.
All the beneficiaries who attempted withdrawals since Tuesday are urged to give the process some time before attempting any further transactions.
It is anticipated that the funds will be reversed into all beneficiaries’ accounts in about 24 hours from noon on Wednesday.
Diako promised that Postbank’s technical teams are working on restoring the transactions inside the retailers to full capacity, as there are still challenges with transactions performed through this channel.
In the same breath, he extended an apology to clients who were inconvenienced.
“We apologise to our valued customers for the inconvenience caused by this incident and thank them for their patience. Postbank will continue providing detailed updates.”
He flagged the technical challenges experienced with grants withdrawals.
“Social grants recipients are also advised that the technical challenges experienced with grants withdrawals since yesterday are an isolated incident that is not related to the validity of the Postbank Sassa gold cards.
“Sassa gold cards remain valid as a means of accessing social grants payments despite the expiry date written on the cards.”
