TS Galaxy wonderkid to fly SA flag in Scottish Premiership

TS Galaxy have confirmed that young sensation Aphelele Teto has signed a long-term deal with Livingston FC and will be flying the South African flag in the Scottish Premier League (SPL) from next season.

In a statement on Wednesday, Galaxy revealed that Teto caught the eye of Livingston during their preseason tour in Turkey last year December.

“TS Galaxy FC is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Livingston FC for the transfer of Aphelele Teto to the Scottish Premiership outfit Livingston,” read the statement.

“The interest in Teto came about during TS Galaxy’s preseason camp in Turkey in December last year.”

The 20-year-old expressed his excitement for the move, saying that his dream to play in Europe has finally come true.

“I am very happy to have the opportunity to play for Livingston FC in the Scottish Premiership. It has always been my childhood dream to play football in Europe,” Teto stated.

“I would like to thank TS Galaxy Football Club for giving me the opportunity to play professional football as well as our head coach for believing in me.

“I will do my best in Scotland and hopefully my performance could open many doors for other South African youngsters.”

Teto will be following in the footsteps on Mamelodi Sundowns star Bongani Zungu, who played for Scottish giants Rangers FC on loan under the tutelage of Liverpool legend Steven Gerard in 2021.

Zungu’s loan spell was, however, not as fruitful as he had anticipated, as it was clouded by Covid-19-related indiscretion, when he was among five Rangers players that broke Scottish Covid restrictions after police broke up a house party.
