TTM is no more after Sello announces new name and logo

Johannesburg – Premiership side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) has ceased to exist after club owner and businessman Abram Selloo announced in Sandton on Thursday that the PSL team will be known as Marumo Gallants going forward.

This comes after the new name was approved by the PSL.

The Nedbank champions were bought by Sello from the club’s previous owner Lawrence Mulaudzi after the side experienced financial problems since the beginning of the recently-ended 2020/21 campaign.

Mulaudzi had bought the now-defunct Bidvest Wits’ PSL status last year but sold it to Sello within five months due to financial challenges.

Club chairman Sello said the decision to rebrand the Polokwane-based outfit was motivated by the urge to commemorate the bravery of the players and technical team members after the club struggled in the Premiership until his intervention.

“The new name of the club is inspired by our journey, together, since February and the off-season. It’s a journey that has been rough outside the field but it’s also a journey that has seen victory in the end, as you can see the [Nedbank Cup] trophy in front,” said Sello.
“The name is a tribute to the bravery of our soldiers, the players. I want to say to the players of last season and their technical team, ‘thank you very much for being courageous and writing a beautiful verse in the book of football in the country’.”

The club’s nickname is Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, loosely translated to mean “warriors of war” in Sepedi.
