Johannesburg – Just a day after President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation on the government’s latest response to the coronavirus pandemic, he is again in front of the nation’s screens, this time to address the violent protests and looting that brought the country to its knees on Monday.
Initially the presidency announced that Ramaphosa would be speaking at 8 pm, however, they moved his address to 8:30 pm.
Thousands of people took to the streets since Friday, leaving a trail of destruction as they looted and protested violently.
The protests began under the ‘Free Jacob Zuma’ banner and snowballed into putting the country into a state of complete lawlessness.
