“Betusile Mcinga is because you are, there would be no Betusile without your support.”
These are the words of the Metro FM Song of the Year award winner Betusile Mcinga, as he expressed his appreciation to his die-hard fans who helped him take the big award home.
The Eastern Cape-born musician walked away with the black horn for his song Ngena Noah during the awards ceremony held at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Saturday night.
The hit gospel song, which was released in December 2022, has gained momentum across the country and attracted TikTok challenges.
Mcinga said he has always known that the song was going to be big, however, he witnessed another level of love when the crowd continued singing the song even after he had finished performing at the awards ceremony.
“I would firstly like to reiterate my appreciation to each and every person who played a role in the achievement of this award,” he said in a message to his followers on Sunday.
“The support, the votes, the donations and the unwavering love that you have shown for me does not go unnoticed.
“I would therefore like to dedicate this award to you, my supporters.”
Meanwhile, Eastern Cape sport, arts and culture MEC Nonceba Kontsiwe congratulated all the musicians from the province.
Kontsiwe described the award winners, including Mcinga, Deep London, Zuko SA and Coco SA as a proud moment for the province.
“Congratulations to all of the winners at the 17th Metro FM Awards,” said Kontsiwe.
“The win is an important milestone in all of your careers. As the province, we are proud of you and your contributions in the creative industry.”
