1Magic’s new romantic series 1802: Love Defies Time celebrates both African love and IsiXhosa culture.
At the private screening of the series at Ster-Kinekor in Rosebank on Sunday, executive producer Lulu Hela shared some insights during a question-and-answer session.
“1802: Love Defies Time is a labour of love that has been in development for two years. It is a story that is close to our hearts, and we poured our souls into bringing it to life,” said Hela.
“We hope that our viewers will be swept away by the romance, intrigue, and drama of the series, and join us on this journey through time and love.”
Hela went on to reveal a little bit about the storyline.
“1802: Love Defies Time is an epic romantic series that celebrates African love and history. We have a fantastic cast and crew who worked tirelessly to bring this story to life.
“Our viewers can expect high-quality storytelling, captivating performances, and a unique look at the beauty and complexity of love.
“We wanted to create a romantic series that not only entertains but also educates viewers about Xhosa culture.
“Through the story of 1802: Love Defies Time, we hope to shed light on the resilience, strength, and beauty of African love. Our goal is to inspire and ignite a sense of pride in our Xhosa heritage and traditions.”
Hela also applauded 1Magic’s commitment to showcasing the best of African entertainment.
“I am impressed with 1Magic’s dedication to promoting African entertainment and providing a platform for African stories to be told.
“With 1802: Love Defies Time, we hope to contribute to the channel’s vision by sharing a unique and compelling tale of love and history. It is an honour to work with a channel that values and supports African creativity and talent,” said Hela.
The event was hosted by television personality Moshe Ndiki, who gave media and arts practitioners an opportunity to see what 1802: Love Defies Time is about.
Some of the A-list personalities who attended the private screening included Connie Chiume, Thembi Seete, Ntobeko Sishi, Lerato Mokoka, Nandi Khubone, Siyasanga Papu, Mbalentle Mavimbela, Nothando Naledi Mabuza, Rosemary Zimu, and Zizipho Buti.
