Eastern Cape Boxing gets major R5m cash injection

Johannesburg – Eastern Cape boxing enthusiasts are hugely grateful to the Nelson Mandela Bay metropolitan municipality for offering financial support to revive boxing in the region.

The metro has provided a much-needed R5-million cash injection to get boxing off the ropes.

As part of the metro’s commitment to revive boxing development in the area, mayor Nqaba Bhanga and his mayoral committee have approved a new partnership to be formally established with the Nelson Mandela Bay Promoters Association for a three-year period.

The aim of the partnership is to bring boxing’s glory days back to the region.

Gqeberha has been a key player in producing formidable boxing champions in South Africa.
