Former Safa CEO Advocate Tebogo Motlanthe, who resigned from the organisation last month, is on the verge of making a remarkable comeback to the association. He has been earmarked for a high-ranking position in the committee for the 2027 Fifa Women’s World Cup bid.
Safa president Danny Jordaan told Sunday World he will be meeting with Motlanthe tomorrow to talk about the matter.
“I am meeting with Motlanthe tomorrow. He has legal expertise that we can use in this bid.
“We are going to have a national executive committee meeting next weekend and we will make announcements regarding the bid committee and the way forward because we want to win this bid,” said Jordaan.
When contacted for comment, Motlanthe referred all inquiries to Jordaan.
On Thursday, Jordaan met with Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa in Bloemfontein to present South Africa’s plans and interest in hosting what would be a second Fifa World Cup in Mzansi. The other World Cup SA hosted was in 2010, which was a successful tournament.
