Seema coy about new Arrows job

Johannesburg – The chopping and changing of coaches are in full effect in the PSL.

The news reaching Sunday World is that Chippa United coach Lehlohonolo Seema will be replacing Mandla Ncikazi as the head coach of Golden Arrows.

In a move that caught the SA football fraternity by surprise last week, Ncikazi resigned from Arrows and joined Orlando Pirates. Pirates incumbent Josef Zinnbauer is facing the axe and will most likely be leaving the Buccaneers’ ship before the start of the new season.

Seema was coy when approached by Sunday World: “A lot of people have been asking me about that. I have not spoken to Arrows chairperson Mato Madlala, I have not received a call from her. I am busy preparing for our relegation/promotion play-offs. My focus is to help Chippa United survive relegation and I do not want to take my eyes off the ball.”

It is still not clear what role Ncikazi will play at the Buccaneers with the fate of Zinnbauer and Fadlu Davids still not decided yet.

The coach started dropping hints about his departure from Abafana be S’thende after their last game of the season where they drew 0-0 against Stellenbosch FC at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium. Ncikazi was not available on his mobile phone to elaborate on his new appointment.

Pirates released a statement: “The club is pleased to announce the appointment of Mandla Ncikazi. The 52-year-old joins the Bucs technical team department on a three-year deal. The Pirates technical team and players are scheduled to start preseason on 1 July.”
