Ntseki stands his ground, tells fans he is the right man for the job

Newly appointed Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki has sent a stern message to the Amakhosi supporters ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

Ntseki was surprisingly bestowed with the responsibility to rescue the Amakhosi sinking ship recently, which saw Arthur Zwane being demoted to the assistant coach role along Dillon Sheppard.

Despite the Chiefs hierarchy defending their stance of appointing Ntseki, questions are still being asked whether the former Bafana Bafana coach has what it takes to take the club back to its glory days.

Addressing the media at the DStv Premiership launch at the Multichoice headquarters in Randburg on Wednesday, Ntseki pleaded with the Amakhosi faithful to give him a chance.

“We are now in the last week of our pre-season, and we are very happy with what we see from the players, the technical team and everybody at the club,” Ntseki said.

“My message to the Amakhosi fans is that give me a chance because you can only be tested if you are given a chance.

“We need to understand that whatever we do, we will be doing for the betterment of the club.”

When asked about the heavy criticism about his appointment, Ntseki stood his ground and said that he is immune to reproval and will perform his duties to the best of his ability.

“In the past 25 years [of coaching] I’ve gone through that [criticism], so I was not surprised,” he said.

“But the most important thing is that I have got a job to do, and that job must be done to the best of my ability.

“The same thing happened when I was at Bafana Bafana, so there is nothing new, maybe it’s because I am South African because South Africans have little love for oneself, but I hope overtime we will outgrow the negativity and become a positive nation.”

Ntseki will get a taste of the DStv Premiership in the hot seat when Amakhosi takes on Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on August 6.
