MTN South Africa is proud to partner with Sunday World on the Unsung Heroes Supplement, a platform that celebrates ordinary South Africans doing extraordinary work to uplift communities, create opportunity and inspire meaningful change.

As a brand committed to enabling progress through technology, connectivity and inclusive growth, MTN is especially honoured to sponsor the technology and innovation category, which recognises SMEs that are using innovation to solve real challenges, build sustainable businesses and open new pathways for South Africa’s next generation of entrepreneurs.

Our commitment to SMEs goes beyond recognition. Through funding support, mentorship and access to practical resources, MTN continues to help entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses, expand their networks and participate more meaningfully in the digital economy. Initiatives such as the MTN Pulse Youth Hustle Hub, the MTN SA Foundation, the Women in Digital Business Challenge and the MTN Small Business Awards are among the platforms through which we support emerging enterprises, unlock opportunities and help business owners turn ambition into sustainable impact.

This year’s campaign places a strong focus on young business owners under the age of 35, celebrating the energy, resilience and ambition of young South Africans who are building businesses that respond to community needs while contributing to the country’s broader digital and economic future. At the same time, we recognise that youth entrepreneurship does not grow in isolation. It is often strengthened by mentors, founders and community builders who use their experience, platforms and enterprises to support young people, transfer skills and create environments where emerging entrepreneurs can thrive.

For this reason, MTN is proud to introduce a new sub-category that acknowledges two exceptional participants over the age of 35 whose work has actively contributed to the growth and development of young business owners. Through their businesses and leadership, they have positively impacted lives, created opportunities and helped pave the way for a generation of young people who are not only building enterprises but empowering communities.

On behalf of MTN SA, I congratulate all the SMEs recognised in this year’s technology and innovation category. Your courage, creativity and commitment reflect the power of enterprise to change lives. You remind us that innovation is not only about new ideas, but also about using those ideas to build a more inclusive, connected and opportunity-rich South Africa.
