Johannesburg – Zolani Matthews, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) has been placed on precautionary suspension.
In a statement, Prasa said it is investigating matters relating to a security breach and other contractual obligations.
“By consensus, the board resolved that Zolani Kgosietsile Matthews should be placed on precautionary suspension to allow detailed probing into the matter at hand to be concluded in his absence,” the agency stated.
Furthermore, the agency affirmed that the board will move to conclude the matter expeditiously in the best interest of all the parties concerned in this matter.
“The appointment of an acting Group CEO will be communicated and the Board will make sure that the daily operations of the organisations are not negatively affected,” the Prasa concluded.
