Covid-19 cases race to 402, all nine provinces now affected

All South Africa’s nine provinces have now recorded at least one case of the novel Covid-19 virus after the Northern Cape today registered its first case as the national wide numbers surged from 274 to 402 overnight.

According to data from the Department of Health, Gauteng has 207 confirmed cases, Western Cape 100, KwaZulu-Natal 60, Free State 13, Mpumalanga 9, North-West 4, Eastern Cape 2, Limpopo 4, and Northern Cape 2.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize in a statement said he will give further details behind the surge of new confirmed cases after President Cyril Ramaphosa’s address to the nation tonight.
