Covid- 19 confirmed cases jump to 1462

On Day 7 of South Africa’s 21-day national lockdown, government announced that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has jumped to 1462.

This is an increase of 82 cases since yesterday.

In a national command centre briefing of ministers in Pretoria, the ministers revised regulations that govern this phase – all in a bid to flatten the Coronavirus infection curve.


Minister of Health Zweli Mkhize said “since the flu season is coming, people must keep warm”.

Mkhize said that the lockdown may have had an impact on the reduction of the infections in the country but it “is too early to tell.”

He further added that there should not be any stigma on patients who are infected with the coronavirus.

Cooperative Governance Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma also made clear the new amendment of the regulations regarding funerals. Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu said: “This disease, Coronavirus, is an enemy to all of us. “
