COVID-19 Latest Stats

COVID-19 death toll Increases from 13 to 18. This was announced by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize on Wednesday evening.

Mkhize said five more people have died and the number of COVID-19 cases has increased by 96 since Tuesday – taking the total number to 1,845 in the country.

Of the new reported deaths, two were in KwaZulu-Natal, another two in Gauteng and the same number in the Free State. All of deceased were men, aged between 49 and 77.


Mkhize said the figures reveal that there have now been nine deaths in KZN, and three each in Gauteng, the Western Cape and the Free State.

This comes from 63,776 Covid-19 tests which were done across SA – and it shows an increase of 5,678 from Monday.

The highest number of confirmed cases is in Gauteng, with 782, followed by the Western Cape with 495, and KZN with 354.
