Johannesburg – DJ Citi Lyts, who was brutally murdered last night, died after he was shot multiple times.
Police have confirmed this through a statement. Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said a case of murder has been opened.
They said the musician was killed in Dube, Soweto, in the early hours of Monday 14 February 2022, and not at his Soweto joint, as earlier reported.
“Police were called to a murder scene in Dube at approximately 02h00 and on arrival they found a 32-year-old man that was lying on the ground with gunshot wounds on the upper body. He was certified dead by the paramedics,” said Masondo.
He said the DJ was with his friends when they were shot at by suspects driving in a silver VW Polo.
“The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage and police are searching for the suspects,” he said.
Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist apprehend the suspects to please call the nearest police station or call crime stop on 08600 10111.
Citi Lyts is the brother of the late rapper Pro Kid who died in 2018.
