Swallows held to goalless draw by Sundowns

Johannesburg – Swallows were held to a goalless draw by newly-crowned PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns in their DStv Premiership match at Dobsonville Stadium yesterday.

Following their dream start to the season, the Birds surprised many when they became early pace-setters and at one stage were log leaders  but all that waned in the second half of a campaign compounded by a string of draws.

Swallows are unbeaten in their backyard and have only lost once in the league this season, they however have astonishingly drew 19, won eight, lost one and are fifth on the table after sharing the spoilswith Downs.

Masandawana were crowned PSL champions midweek with three games remaining before the end of the season.

Crowned league victors for the fourth successive season, their 11th title in the history of the PSL, Sundowns have now kept 17 clean sheets this season, equalling their own club record achieved in three past seasons – 2006/07, 2015/16  and 2016/17.
