Actress Moliehi Didie Makobane has ventured into entrepreneurship, becoming the co-founder of Didie Lips, a nude lip gloss range.
Speaking at the launch of the range in Sandton this week, she said her six-shade nude gloss is the first cosmetic product under House of Didie, an e-commerce store.
Makobane said the collaborative project was produced by her and Naoleng Langa. It took four years to complete because it was self-funded.
“Today is a very special day because I am launching a product that has been very dear to my heart,” she said.
“I remember when I was younger, I used to get teased a lot about my lips. I did not really like my lips.”
She shared that when she got her braces, she thought her lips were going to shrink if she had fixed her teeth.
“I decided to use something that used to get me down as a tool to empower myself and later empower other people.”
She said her brand represents people who have always felt like they were overlooked or not beautiful enough.
“Growing up I always thought I was not beautiful enough. I feel like I grew into my looks. I am so happy that I used that not to only empower me but others too.”
She added that Didie Lips is here to celebrate unorthodox beauty and to allow everyone’s lips do the talking.
