Emotional hip-hop star Kiernan Forbes, well-known by his stage name AKA, took to social media on Monday to remember his ex-fiancé Anele Tembe who died by alleged suicide in 2021.
“I’ll remember this day for the rest of my life, 11/04/2021. Everyday I pray for the healing of your family and my family. I hope one day we can all come together and pay our respects to you and your memory at the same place and at the same time,” he wrote.
The couple’s relationship was marred by problems that often played out on social media, with one disturbing video and pictures emerging after Tembe’s death showing AKA knocking down a door to a room where she had locked herself in.
Tembe died after falling from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town last year.
In a sit-down television interview AKA, who is said to be dating fellow rapper Nadia Nakai, addressed Tembe’s death, the rumours of substance abuse, and the allegations that he was physically violent toward her.
