Basetsana thrilled to witness son leave for matric dance

Television personality and beauty pageant titleholder Basetsana Kumalo has taken to social media to reflect on how time has passed quick.

This after she witnessed her first-born child leave home for a matric dance.

Basetsana has three children with her husband Romeo Kumalo, two boys and a girl. Nathi, aged 18, is the couple’s first-born child followed by uShaka, 11, and nine-year-old Bontle.

Basetsana, the former Miss Soweto and Miss South Africa, posted a reel of the matric dance on Instagram, which took place two weeks ago.

She shared that it was an emotional day for her because she could not believe her son had grown that quick, reaching 18 years.

She said having Nathi as her son has been one of the greatest gifts.

“To my son – don’t let anyone take you for granted. Always hold your head up high. Never stop believing in yourself,” she wrote.

“Just go forth and aim for the skies. I may not carry you in my arms anymore, but I will always carry you in my heart.

“You have given me so many reasons to be proud of the man you have become, but the proudest moment for me is telling others [that] you are my son. Love always, Mom.

“To the Tribe [family] that came to see him off, they say it takes a village to raise a child. Thank you very much. AmaNtungwa [clan name] ayabonga [say thank you].”
