Grammy Award-winning DJ and producer Black Coffee, real name Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, has finally broken his silence following the finalisation of his much-publicised divorce from actress Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa.
The former power couple, who wed traditionally in 2011 before a lavish white wedding in 2017, officially called it quits in 2019 after years of marital turbulence that played out under the watchful eye of the public.
Children should be left out of it
Now, six years and countless headlines later, the divorce has been finalised, and Black Coffee has one message for South Africans: leave his children out of it.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on October 16, the superstar DJ expressed frustration over the constant speculation surrounding his personal life. In a heartfelt post, he wrote:
“I understand that you people believe everything you read, and that’s fine, as a father, I have one request. Please stop posting my children on your socials.”
His plea came just days after Enhle confirmed the divorce on October 10, sparking renewed gossip about their settlement and relationship dynamics.
Enhle will receive spousal support, monthly child maintenance for their sons Asante and Anesu, and as much as 50% of Black Coffee’s assets, citing that their marriage fell under community of property.
Black Coffee’s X post appeared to subtly address these claims, cautioning the public not to believe everything they read.
Family members rally behind stars
As expected, the divorce has stirred strong reactions from both families. Enhle’s mother, veteran makeup artist Bongi Mlotshwa, publicly offered her daughter support, posting a prayer on Instagram for “strength and peace through the storm”.
Meanwhile, Black Coffee’s sister, Lungi Maphumulo, reportedly threw shade online, commenting:
“Good luck to her. From where I am standing, I don’t think she will win this but let me wish her well.”
The tension between the families has reignited debate over the couple’s rocky past, including allegations that Black Coffee fathered two children outside the marriage—one allegedly with Mimi Buthelezi, who spoke out in 2020 about their supposed relationship.
Through it all, Black Coffee has remained largely silent, focusing on his career and children.
Despite the drama, he appears to have turned a new page. The Subconsciously hitmaker, who has multiple children including his eldest son Esona, is now in a long-term relationship with Victoria Gonzalez, with whom he has been linked for about five years.
Recently, Gonzalez was photographed alongside Black Coffee’s mother, a moment fans interpreted as a sign that she’s been fully embraced by the family.
