Cassper Nyovest on taking ‘Fill Up’ back home

All roads lead to Mmabatho stadium in Mafikeng on the first weekend of December as Cassper Nyovest, real name Refiloe Phoolo, is bringing #FillUP to his hometown.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Mafikeng Convention Center Nyovest said it all goes back to 2015 when he had his first #FillUp. He said he did not anticipate that there would be more of these events since the Dome.

He added that he chose the certain lineup that he has for a specific reason. His team conducted a survey with the community to do their research on what the community wants.

“Every FillUp is created according to the audience, so the fact that we are coming home we had to think about our history and heritage. It was very important for me to have certain people on the lineup because I know how special it would be for the audience.”

Nyovest added that this upcoming event might be the hardest one yet because the catalogue is so wide. He said it will be hard for him to try and please everyone from his hometown.

“There are so many politics around this event but I’m trying my best to cover everything that I want to cover. However, I am going to be giving people a very special show because it is very personal because I want to inspire kids back home,” he said.

After speculations about the readiness and safety of the stadium, the North West Department of Arts and Culture, Sports and Recreation in Mafikeng said the stadium has been undergoing renovations.

“It has been used over a period of time and people should understand that we would never put people’s lives at risk. When Nyovest’s team came to approach us, we did address a number of concerns and they hired their own structural engineer who gave a technical report that the stadium is ready to be used,” said the department.
