Emtee is a drug addict and he abused me, alleges estranged wife

Emtee’s estranged wife Chantel Chinsamy has dropped a bombshell when she alleged that the multi-award-winning artist is a drug user.

Chinsamy’s shocking allegations are contained in a police statement she filed at the Midrand Police Station in Joburg, where she had opened a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) against the rapper.

In the statement, which was compiled by constable KE Makamola, Chinsamy alleged that Emtee uses drugs.

But she did not state the type of drugs the hip hop proponent allegedly hovers.
The terse statement, which we have seen, reads as follows:

“The complainant alleges that her husband is assaulting her and invading her privacy on social media.

The husband is known as Mthembeni Ndevu, with a contact number (number withheld). The complainant alleges that he is also a drug user. Case docket opened for further police investigations.”

The drug allegations were not tested in court after Chinsamy withdrew the case before the matter could go on trial.

The damning allegations will forever be a dark cloud that will hover above the mega star’s head because he himself, did not challenge them when he made representations to the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) to drop the domestic violence case against him at the Midrand Magistrate’s court last month.

The talented songwriter, who repeatedly denied on social media that he is a drug junkie, only welcomed the withdrawal of the criminal case with mixed emotions, saying it will leave a dark cloud hanging over his head because in the court of public opinion, he remains a woman basher.

Chinsamy, who has three children with the muso, withdrew the case because she had extended an olive branch to the artist for the sake of their children.

In his representations, which were submitted to the court by his lawyer Dumisani Motsamai, Emtee denied assaulting Chinsamy.

“In his statement to the police when being formally charged, the accused denied the charges preferred against him.

“Had there been no withdrawal statement, the matter would have proceeded for trial and prior to that [sic], the accused would have been called upon to plead to the charges.

“The accused’s plea would have been that of not guilty. This is because the accused, while admitting that an altercation did ensue between himself and his wife on February 14 2023, vehemently denies ever assaulting her.”

Motsamai said Emtee wished the matter could have been ventilated in a full trial in an open court, where he would have had an opportunity to lead his defence and eventually be acquitted.

“In fact, the net effect of the withdrawal is that Emtee missed out on the opportunity to clear his name,” read Motsamai’s representations.

“There will always be this cloud hanging over his head that he is a woman basher regardless of the charges being withdrawn.

“This is the image he will forever carry in the court of public opinion. The withdrawal of the charges by the complainant is therefore met with mixed emotions by the accused.”

Emtee denied that he was on drugs. “Firstly, I don’t know what she is talking about because I’m not on drugs,” he said.
