Disoufeng joint invades Durban July after three year hiatus

Disoufeng Pub and Restaurant will be making a comeback at the annual Hollywood Durban July taking place this coming weekend.

Speaking to Sunday World, owner and Managing Director of Disoufeng, Tebogo Phiri, said he was ecstatic to return bigger and better after the Covid-19 pandemic, as well the establishment having caught fire in 2022.

“We are coming back stronger and believe the brand has grown from strength to strength and we have reached the attention of our target market out of Soweto and the Gauteng province,” said Phiri.

Six years ago was Disoufeng’s formative years and the business was targeting working-class adults. Over the years they have gained popularity and interest. In 2019 they rebranded from Soweto VIP Marquee to Gauteng VIP Marquee.

“We rebranded with the intention to expand and also address the growing concern at the time, which was about it not only targeting people who only lived in Soweto.”

This year Disoufeng will have a meet-and-greet pre-party at a new venue at oceans mall in Umhlanga.

The main event will take place at the Greyville Racecourse where the best fashion and entertainment will be served. To end off the weekend a Soul and RnB laid-back party will take place at the beach. The establishment said it is still in advanced talks with Metro FM to come in as a media and broadcast partner for the matured Sundays by the beach party.
