The wait for Fixing the Game reality show is soon to end, and former Kaizer Chiefs star Junior Khanye says he is lining up a game-changer in the history of South African television.
The much-anticipated 14-part reality show is set to premiere on Mzansi Wethu. This on DStv channel 163, next Thursday at 6:30pm.
For Khanye, Fixing the Game is more than just about his time during his days of stardom or what he gets up to daily. It is also about making an impact in society and winning back the hearts of the people he loves. These are his family, children, friends, and his career.
“The reality show is going to be something big and will indeed fix the game,” Khanye told Sunday World on Friday.
Show will speak to everyone in SA
“It will speak to everyone in South Africa. From current to former football players, people who lost hope in life, and public figures. How they must humble themselves and respect life for what it is,” he said.
“People facing life challenges, those who have lost their loved ones, and so forth. They will also draw inspiration from my reality show.
“The fact of the matter is that my life has changed since I was given a second chance. So I want my story to inspire people because it has. I am a man of God and I believe in my ancestors. So those elements of my life should also be expected.
“But I want to thank Mzansi Magic for giving me this opportunity and even choosing me to tell my story. Being followed by cameras everywhere I go for almost five months was something incredible. And I am very excited.”
Khanye also went on to dive deep into the reason behind the title of the reality show. He got candid about what Fixing the Game means.
Title inspired by own presentation
“The title of the reality show simply comes from my now famous introduction before my football analysis. I always say: ‘We are fighting now; we are trying to fix South African football’.
“But now the word ‘game’ in the title translates to life — my life. And I am hoping that my story will not only inspire but also help fix the lives of other people. People who were, and are, in challenging situations like mine.
“So, I am doing my best to utilise my second chance the best way I possibly can. By working hard and being humble and respectful to everyone,” he added.
Khanye also said that he is working on another project on the side. These will appear on the reality show. He will also be reaching out to other stars like him who are now forgotten.
