Mandisi Dyantyis gearing up to dazzle Durban July horseracing audience

The Hollywoodbets Durban July, Africa’s premier horseracing and social extravaganza, is set to dazzle on July 5 at Greyville Racecourse.

Among the highlights of the day will be the return of Saso’s Brunch Marquee, headlined by award-winning jazz trumpeter Mandisi Dyantyis.

Joining Dyantyis are chart-toppers like Zed Nxumalo, known for her soulful amapiano vibes; Scott Maphuma with his infectious beats; Oscar Mbo’s deep house grooves; and DJ Merlon with his electrifying mixes.

More artists who will form the line-up will be announced in the coming days.

Renowned for his soul-stirring fusion of jazz, Afro-soul, and traditional isiXhosa music, Dyantyis will bring hits like NguMama, Ndimthanda, Cwaka, and Molo Sisi to the stage.

“We always love performing in Durban,” Dyantyis says. “We can’t wait to connect with everyone on July 5.”

His unique sound promises to captivate the vibrant crowd, blending cultural depth with modern flair.

Curated by hip-hop artist and entrepreneur Lusaso “Saso” Ngcobo, the marquee’s line-up targets younger audiences with evolving musical tastes.

“We want to deliver fresh, exciting performances,” Ngcobo says.

“Music unites us, especially with artists dominating the scene and inspiring viral dance challenges.”

Celebrating ancestral heritage

With an increased capacity of 800 guests and a prominent location at the winning post, the Saso Brunch Marquee is returning with its distinctively exclusive atmosphere.

The 2025 theme, “Cradle of Marvels”, celebrates Africa’s ancestral heritage, weaving traditional elements with contemporary luxury.

Expect curated decor, fashion, cuisine, and entertainment that embody this vision, set against the thrilling backdrop of the Durban July’s horseracing spectacle.

Beyond entertainment, Saso’s Brunch Marquee is committed to social impact, focusing on youth employment in Durban.

The event’s organising team has prioritised hiring young locals for production and bar service roles to combat high unemployment rates.

“In isiZulu, we say umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu [I am because you are]. As a young person, I know how tough it is to find work in a field you love. I’m here because sponsors believed in me, and I want to pay it forward.”
