Nigerian star Rema included in ‘Hey Neighbour’ festival line-up

Nigerian rapper and songwriter Divine Ikubor, known professionally as Rema, is the latest international act to be included in the line-up for the Hey Neighbour festival.

Rema gained recognition with the release of a hit song Dumebi in 2019.

He is best known internationally for his 2022 hit single Calm Down, a remix with American singer Selena Gomez.

Rema joins the line-up alongside legendary South African acts Mafikizolo, Prime Circle, Zakes Bantwini, Black Motion, as well as Desmond and the Tutus.

Local favourites Mörda, Kelvin Momo and DJ Zinhle have the decks on lock alongside curated live performances from Sho Madjozi, Elaine and Jamie-Lee Sexton.

Hey Neighbour is a global vibrant celebration of music, culture, and community. The festival will be an experience to own, and be proud of.

The intention is to be at the same magnitude as the likes of iconic international festivals like Coachella.

Hey Neighbour, the music and lifestyle festival dubbed the Coachella of South Africa, will take place over three days at the Legends Adventure Farm in Pretoria.

It will get underway from December 8 to 10.

Glen Netshepise from Glen 21 Entertainment previously said: “We’re absolutely buzzing to launch this incredible new festival.

“We’ve put heart, soul and a whole lot of rhythm into planning this event, and to finally share this news is a truly special moment.

“We’re confident that the world-class production and diverse line-up will create an experience that leaves an indelible mark on every attendee, fostering friendships that echo across the globe.”

Beer brand Heineken, a partner to the festival, will add to the festivities as it will be celebrating its 150th birthday.

To celebrate the milestone, Heineken has opted to share the festivities with everyone who is passionate about music, arts, and culture.

Warren le Grange, Hey Neighbour festival director, said: “This partnership is all about celebrating good times and unity, which aligns perfectly with the spirit of Hey Neighbour.”

Marcel Swain, Heineken marketing manager, said celebrating 150 years with a festival of this magnitude only seems fitting in the spirit of Mzansi.

“We are elevating the celebrations with this partnership by allowing everyone to enjoy good times with Heineken, one way or another,” said Swain.
