The Global Citizen concert has announced new global faves for their extended lineup.
The show, themed One World: Together at Home, revealed that globally recognised artists and influencers Alicia Keys, Sam Smith, Celine Dion and Oprah Winfrey are some of the new names joining the global concert from the comfort of their homes.
They will be joining Mzansi’s Sho Madjozi, Cassper Nyovest, Black Coffee and Nomzamo Mbatha whose names were released last week for the lineup.
This year, the global broadcast led by the World Health Organisation (WHO), is being hosted in support of the coronavirus pandemic which has claimed many lives and forced many countries around the globe into a lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus.
Co-founder of Global Citizen, Hugh Evans, said they were proud that the private sector intervened as the government cannot tackle the pandemic on its own.
“We are also incredibly grateful for the continued support from the artist community to make On World: Together at home a moment of global unity.
“Our hope for the special is that everyone will come away believing that we, as a shared humanity, can emerge from this moment forever grateful for the work of doctors, nurses, teachers, grocery store workers, and all those who are the backbone of our communities,” said Evans in a statement.
The special will be aired on MTV Africa on April 19, from 9pm.
