Multi-award-winning radio presenter Khutso Theledi was the latest celebrity to be unmasked on The Masked Singer South Africa this week.
Theledi purred on the show behind the costume of a cheetah, and the only detective to guess it right from the get-go was Somizi Mhlongo.
The Metro FM presenter gave it away to Mhlongo after he was able to pick up Cheetah’s body language, as well as her admission that she can speak Italian.
Pushing the boundaries
Theledi expressed that this year, she vowed to push the boundaries and step out of her comfort zone a little, and the experience she had on the show truly tested her courage.
Before Cheetah lifted her weaved mane, guest detective Jason changed his mind to Nomzamo Mbatha, but the others stuck with their original names.
When Theledi finally revealed her appearance, Somizi giggled about how she duped him during their time together on Metro FM earlier in the day.
About her experience hidden in the mask, Theledi said it was something else, and “you feel that you have been swallowed, but at the same time, you are filled with excitement, happiness, and joy”.
Exhilarating yet intimidating
“Being on this beloved show was both exhilarating and intimidating, making it one of the most memorable moments of my life,” she said.
“To the viewers, being a part of this cherished family show was a true blessing. Huge gratitude to the incredible team behind the scenes for their phenomenal work.
“I’m sending my best wishes to all the talented masked performers on their exciting journeys; it’s really not as easy as you think it may be to be under that mask and try to sing, while knowing singing is not part of my bio.”
