SA traditional music awards extends closing date for nominations

The South African Traditional Music Awards (Satma) together with the National Department of Art & Culture has extended an invitation to traditional music artists to submit nominations for the upcoming awards.

According to the awards spokesperson Keletso Dlamini, the popular awards are moving to Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal.

Dlamini said they are extending the closing date to July 31, 2023, and artists are encouraged to upload their nomination forms through the Satma website.

“Due to popular demand of call for nominations submissions, Satma Awards has taken the decision to extend the closing date for call for nominations submissions to July 31, 2023.

This will offer all hopeful entrants an opportunity to still enter their names for the awards beyond the initial closing date.

Under the theme: “My Culture, Your Culture, One Nation” the 18th Annual SATMA Awards will be held at the Durban International Convention Center,” said Dlamini.

Dlamini further revealed that there are three new categories that have been added to the awards.

“We now have the Best Traditional School group or artist, Best Traditional University group or artist, Best Traditional Influential Social Media Page.

“Satma Awards is encouraging everyone to upload their nomination forms through the Satma Awards website. Nominees will be announced in Pretoria, Gauteng in August 2023,” Dlamini concluded.
