Nodangala who is well known as Mam’Ruby on Generations and Mam’Blossom on Rhythm City recently joined Scandal! and plays the role of Nomvula Kubeka.
Slindile plays along Melusi Mbhele who is well known for his role in Isibaya as Bhekumuzi and he plays Joseph ‘Jojo’ Kubeka, the son of Slindile.
The two recently lost their jobs as both Isibaya and Rhythm City got canned.
The two were fortunate enough to bag roles on Scandal!
Talking to Sunday World, Slindile and Melusi shared more about the characters they play on the show.
“Nomvula is a protective, loving mother who comes from humble beginnings and would do anything to protect her family.”
“She is the matriarchy of the Kubeka family who has worked very hard to get to where she is, a mother who is not about a glamorous lifestyle and wants to build a legacy of her family,” said Slindile as she described her Nomvula character.
Melusi plays the eldest son of Nomvula who is straight and narrow.
“Jojo grew up in hardships as he had to make sure that his younger siblings were taken care of.”
“Jojo is a very disciplined person, who doesnt like anything that breaks the law and does everything by the book,” said Melusi on his character.
Melusi described his character as a people’s person and who can be compared to the Obamas and Malcolm X.

Both have said they had a smooth transition from their previous workspaces to Scandal! and have fitted in perfectly.
Slindile said they have been shooting for 3 months and have not had a quarrel over anything as a Kubeka family.
“Nomvula and Slindile are 2 different people, Nomvula is married and Slindile has never been married the only thing that they have in common is that they are both raising 2 sons.”
“Even if they were the same, those are challenges that we enjoy as actors, it is a matter of moving into character,” added Slindile.
