Euphonik baby mama says he’s a deadbeat dad

Award-winning producer DJ Euphonik is being sued for maintenance by one of his baby mamas.

Sunday World can exclusively reveal that the baby mama, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has petitioned the Joburg high court to give her an order that will force Euphonik to pay R25 000 in maintenance for their two children, among others.

In the papers, which we have seen, the baby mama said Euphonik had been abdicating his financial responsibilities towards the upbringing of their two children.

This, she said, especially on their second born – who is a child with special needs.

In the court papers, the baby mama begged the court to grant an order instead of asking her to refer the matter to the maintenance court of the Randburg magistrate’s court, which falls under the jurisdiction of her residential area.

“I pause to state that, although I am aware that maintenance must be dealt with separately and at a correct forum, the respondent, who is hugely a successful international and local DJ, and who earns and owns significantly more than I do, pays only school fees for our two children,” read the papers.

Of grave concern to her, she said, is that Euphonik, whom she dumped after refusing to be his third wife, is providing housing and all other expenses for his other three children with his other wives.

The baby mama said Euphonik had ignored every attempt she made to discuss and agree on the maintenance of their children.

She said the hypocritical Euphonik blamed and verbally attacked her for “neglecting” the well-being of one of their children. Ironically, she said, one day when she booked a consultation with a doctor for one of the children, and requested financial assistance from him, he refused.

“Indeed, he has recently accused me of neglecting our son’s dentistry but when I asked for help from him to pay the costs of the imminent appointment, he refused.

“I submit this gives an idea of the type of person I am dealing with, who is more interested in his ‘rights’ than his ‘responsibilities’ and more interested in what he wants than what is best for, and needed by the children,” she said in the papers.

The baby mama further said as a result of his behaviour, she wants Euphonik to pay R12 500 per month for each child. The money, which she wants paid into her account, should increase by 5% annually or be in line with the South African consumer price index as of January 1.

She said Euphonik, as the significantly higher earner, should continue to pay the quantum until the children are self-supporting.

She also wants him to continue to pay fees for school currently attended by the children and for tertiary education costs at a later stage.

She also wants Euphonik to pay the costs of three school extra murals or sporting activities per child.

When contacted for comment, the baby mama declined to comment and said the matter was sub judice.
