Former Miss SA gets chance to explore her artistic side

Former Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane, who is now Daily Thetha’s newest addition, has always had a passion for the arts.

Daily Thetha is an exciting audience-driven, educational TV talk show that seeks to inspire South Africa’s youth.

The hosts of the show engage the audience in various issues that affect their lives through an open studio dialogue including debates and experts’ opinions.

Mswane, who is an LLB graduate, told Sunday World this week that her goal was to become a professional ballerina.

“I opted to study law as legal professions provide more financial stability,” Mswane said.

“I have always hoped and dreamt of asserting myself in the entertainment industry, so I’m quite ecstatic for this new chapter.”

She was crowned Miss South Africa in 2021 and was third at the 70th edition of the Miss Universe.

Mswane made history as the first black and South African woman to be crowned Miss Supranational in Poland in 2022.

She said Daily Thetha viewers can expect to be exposed to new layers of herself as she joins the show to facilitate and host nation-building conversations.

“I hope to bring a fresh perspective to the show that will foster transparent discussions with my guests,” she said.

“I am so elated to join the Daily Thetha team and have been warmly embraced by the entire team.”

She added that being on set in the past few weeks filled her with joy and excitement.

“I’m grateful to SABC1 and the Daily Thetha team for this wonderful opportunity. I am honoured to be trusted with this role.”

Mswane said as a go-getter, she always strives to achieve what she believes in.

“I have always been a determined and tenacious person. It takes a lot to get me down and I persist to see my goals materialize.”

In the near future, Mswane will be pursuing some aspirational goals that she has had for years, as well as focusing on the humanitarian work that is conducted by her foundation.

Mswane will make her debut appearance on the show on October 23 and will be joined by Mxolisi Masango.
