Music and food festival was a delicious experience

Talk of the town event, DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival was a far cry from the hot mess it was last year. Thank God for small mercies.

There were more toilets, food stalls and parking. There was also increased security and things were much calmer. Let’s hope this standard can be even further improved next year.

So yeah – it was a Heritage weekend of fun in the sun as summer outfits came out to play.

MCs for the main stage were actor and TV presenter Lawrence Maleka and Big Brother Titans’ season 1 winner, Khosi Twala. Must say Maleka is really taking up the space in the MC and hosting business. Shwa wonders if he has left acting to go back to his first love?

Khosi, it’s good to see you grabbing every opportunity you get, unlike that other girl who chose to focus on a relationship that left her with a baby – and a broken heart.

Shwa got to witness Grammy Award and Emmy-winning American pianist Robert Glasper. He is not here to play, neh. He is also booked for the Joy of Jazz.

Shwa is simply in awe of this man.

Morda set the stage on fire, but my brother, Shwa can’t keep on telling you the same thing. Stop climbing on top of things! You’re a dad for goodness sake.

We know that you are known and loved for your signature dance moves, but please come up with something new and fresh.

Nigerian singer and songwriter Tems graced the stage again this year, wearing a red ensemble and red veil. Not sure why she was wearing a veil in this day and age. Did you perhaps think you were getting hitched or something?

Shwa really did not see the need for you to address the pregnancy rumours on stage. We all know Future has eight kids with eight different women, and you’re not on the list.

DJ Kent, Shwa is just disappointed that you do not do interviews because what in hell are you doing to your fans?

DJ Kent has clearly made a comeback. He shut down the entire main stage on Saturday with his set. A set which reminded everyone of what it was like before Amapiano took over. According to Shwa, Kent should have been the main headliner. Wow!

Zakes Bantwini won a Grammy and DStv Delicious. I thought it was in the best interest of the festival goers to be given him as a main headliner. But you’ve got to be kidding. There are so many international stars out there and yet you decided we deserved Zakes, whom we see every day.

But thanks, Zakes, for bringing us Bucie, who gave fans a brief performance after she had said she is leaving music to focus on her family.

On the other side of the festival DJ Maphorisa, or rather Madumane, shut the house down with his set. Maphorisa reminded people why they love his music so much.

Shwa also spotted Robot boii, Pearl Thusi and Daliwonga.

For DStv Delicious to say it will be looking into legendary singer Ringo Madlingozi’s allegations he posted in a now deleted post, is nonsense.

Is Ringo crazy for saying all the things he said? Is he crazy for walking off the stage and pulling a zap…? No, he is not.

Shwa expects better from you guys. Please treat our legends with utmost respect.

And we hope the likes of Maxwell have by now realised our Kullid (sic) bras are not latinos or Haitians. Where did this oke think he was?
