Seasoned broadcaster Hulisani Ravele announced on Thursday that she will take a sabbatical from the airwaves and television screens.
Ravele has more than 26 years’ experience in the industry and has been a constant source of inspiration to her fanbase.
In the past five years, the 35-year-old has been the host of the weekend morning show on Primedia’s 947. Her final broadcast is scheduled for September 30 marking the end of an era.
Ravele said she was immensely grateful for the love and support she has received from her followers and the industry.
“Making it onto the 947 lineup has been an absolute dream come true. To anchor and deliver an entertaining and wholesome show to such a diverse and multicultural audience to play a part in the station surpassing the 1 million mark P7D listenership and being able to maintain that position are both remarkable achievements I hold dear. This break is not just a pause but an opportunity for me to delve into new experiences and discover what the future holds. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me,” she said in a statement.
Ravele started her career at a tender age in 1997. She rose to fame as a child presenter on SABC 1’s YOTV Wildroom show. She continued to present on the channel for almost nine years.
When she left YOTV in November 2008 she joined SABC1 as a trainee publicist and marketing assistant. She has also done the Gig Guide for DJ Euphonik’s Sunday night show on 5FM, My House.
Besides being a broadcaster she has managed to be a MC, a voice-over producer, and an entrepreneur.
