It was karma that Bujy got arrested, says Obie Mavuso

In an exclusive, tell-all interview with Sunday World, Nwabisa Obie Mavuso has levelled serious accusations against media personality Bujy Bikwa, alleging that he orchestrated a deliberate set-up that led to her being unfairly branded an abuser by fans and the public.

The controversy centres on a podcast appearance that Mavuso claims was manipulated to tarnish her reputation, despite having been cleared of abuse allegations.

Speaking candidly, Mavuso detailed what she describes as a calculated campaign by Bikwa to undermine her.

As a creative deeply engaged in researching influential figures within the LGBTQ community, Mavuso had been observing Bikwa’s work for some time before initiating contact.

Framed as something evil

“I reached out to him after some time, and we spoke about his podcast on MacG’s platform,” she stated.

“I asked if he would like to hear my story, the work I do, and discuss topics that people find taboo.”

Mavuso expected the podcast to feature the usual panel of Bikwa and Katlego, but she was blindsided by the addition of an unexpected guest.

“I was very thrown off when it was another black queer woman named Amanda Ntshiba, whose agenda seemed to be asking me questions that felt set up,” Mavuso said.

“It was as if she was on that panel to make me fail and frame me as something evil so she could get the positive vibes from that episode.”

Handling of podcast criticised

Mavuso further criticised Bikwa’s handling of the podcast, accusing him of lacking the professional etiquette required to conduct a fair panel discussion.

“Bujy did not even inform me that there would be an extra person,” she said.

“He also didn’t manage the panellists well. After the episode aired, I saw the backlash and the labelling based on allegations that I’m an abuser when I was cleared of those claims against my ex-wife, and it’s never been proven that I abused her.”

In a striking revelation, Mavuso commented on Bikwa’s recent arrest, stating: “It was karma that Bujy got arrested because he deserved it.”

Despite the ordeal, Mavuso remains resolute and harbours no resentment.

“I’m not bitter,” she said. “I’m urging them to be better people. The truth will come out, and I’m fighting to clear my name.”
