Itumeleng Bokaba’s latest video could land her in trouble

Actress and singer Itumeleng Bokaba, who is accusing Nhlamulo Nota Baloyi of rape, might find herself in hot water after allegedly violating a protection order.

Bokaba appeared at the Randburg family court on Monday.

According to the protection order that Sunday World has seen, Bokaba was due to appear in court on Monday to give reasons why the interim order should not be made final.

Nota stated that he has requested that his attorney examine the video because he believes she might have broken the protection order, which prohibits her from discussing him on social media.

Her attorney will submit pleadings to prevent the enforcement of a provisionally extended permanent protection order until the case is heard.

Nine-minute video

According to the protection order, Bokaba is not allowed to post anything about Nota on social media or get in touch with him in any way.

Nota asked his attorney to watch the nine-minute video she uploaded in which she pleaded poverty and claimed that prosecutors might conclude there was no case because there was insufficient evidence to prove the allegation beyond a reasonable doubt or that the defence had bribed him.

The case has been rescheduled for October 22 in order to give Bokaba more time to find legal counsel.

She was informed that if it turned out that she had broken the protection order, she would be arrested.

The Randburg magistrate’s court granted Baloyi, who had spent the previous weekend in custody, R5 000 bail last Monday.

WhatsApp messages

The case against Nota was rescheduled for November 9 in order to verify the WhatsApp conversations between him and Bokaba.

Nota was told not to get in touch with the complainant at all.

In a Sunday World interview last week, the contentious music executive revealed that his rape case was a set-up.

According to him, he thinks the messages claiming to be from him were sent after he had gone to sleep.
